I am a UKCP registered Leicester-based psychotherapist and have worked for seventeen years as a psychotherapist in the NHS, the last eight at consultant level. I have now retired from the NHS and am in private practice. I have worked in various capacities in mental health since 1975 and have extensive experience of working with people with various, and often complex, mental health and psychological difficulties. In addition to offering traditional open-ended psychotherapy, I have experience of offering Brief Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and also teach and supervise this model of psychotherapy. I have trained in the use of EMDR for trauma therapy and combine this with working psychodynamically, and can thus offer it for both simple and complex trauma.

I have completed courses in supervision at the Institute of Group Analysis and at the British Association for Psychotherapy, and offer consultations for complex cases and psychotherapy supervision.

I offer psychotherapy for many forms of emotional and psychological difficulty, such as conflicts or uncertainty in one’s sense of self, relationship difficulties, adjustment reactions, loss and unresolved grief reactions, and unresolved trauma in childhood and adulthood. Often, our difficulties are deeply felt but not well understood. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers the opportunity, to explore one’s difficulties, to understand better and accept the things that can sometimes be difficult to face, and to be able to know what we can and cannot change, so we are clearer about the choices we have, and can feel enabled and supported to make the changes we want.
